Testimonials

When I came to Zoe a couple of months ago after a long hiatus from formal singing, my throat felt very tight--my range had gone down to just over an octave. A couple of months later, I can sing nearly three octaves, and my voice is more relaxed than ever.  Every week my voice is more resonant and free. Zoe is incredibly knowledgeable about the voice both from a technical and a practical perspective.

- Jacob M., Tenor, Classical

Zoe is an exceptional voice teacher who truly understands the nuances of the human voice.  She possesses an impressive ability to tailor voice lessons to a student's individual needs, fostering rapid improvement while prioritizing vocal health. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to learn from Zoe. - Virginia J., Rock, Metal, Singer Songwriter

I’ve been a voice student of Zoe’s for just over seven months. I came to her with vocal issues that I’d had for years and was afraid they couldn’t be fixed.  Through Zoe’s teaching I’ve been able to address these issues and progress notably.  It’s been very exciting!

 - Anne B., Mezzo Soprano, Soloist, Choral, Musical Theatre

Zoe's voice instruction has been transformative in my life.  I've found my voice both literally and figuratively.  Zoe has been masterful working with my "older voice." As a result, I've been able to return to regular singing and gained self-confidence as I speak more clearly and with greater power. - Susan P., Soprano, Choral, Public Speaker

I'd like to thank you, Zoe Vandermeer, for being such a wonderful and special teacher to me over the past five years.  I came to you as a little girl who just wanted to be a "super star" and training with you has turned me into a young lady with greater aspirations.  You have taught me to believe in myself.  You always pushed me to work hard and reach for notes that I didn't even know were inside of me.  Working with you has been a dream come true.  Thank you for everything you have done for me; I will never forget you or what you've taught me.  I will make you proud.

- Cathryn J., Mezzo Soprano, Musical Theatre, Classical, Pop

Pursuing a career in opera requires hard work, determination, and most importantly encouragement. A voice teacher is expected to protect and nourish the voices of their pupils. I have been lucky enough to have found such an amazing teacher with such an expertise of Baroque Opera and the Bel Canto period. Zoe has not only exceeded my expectations, but has allowed me to appreciate and discover new attributes of my artistry. Embracing my uniqueness and allowing me to use and love my “True” sound. Her technique and approach is explained thoroughly.  Zoe is a musical powerhouse and excellent teacher!  Best of the Best!  - Ivan, Countertenor, Baroque Opera

When I first met Zoe, I had been through two different voice teachers prior; Zoe flipped all of those experiences on their head, methodically going through the parts of the body that help to create sound in a healthy and functional way, taking care to ensure I don't harm my voice, making sure I am the focus of my lessons, being prompt and timely with messages if things go pear-shaped, and all this with a warm and encouraging tone. She has cared not just that I attend her lessons and do my "homework", but that I am thriving as I am learning in order to get the most out of my lessons. Zoe is, without a doubt, the best thing to happen to my voice, and has taken my choral-focused improperly taught wretch of a voice and turned it into something that I can be truly proud of for myself. In short, if you're looking for a voice teacher, you would be doing yourself a huge favor by seeing if Zoe Vandermeer would be a good fit. - George Q., Tenor, Pop, Classical

We have addressed a lot of unhealthy habits that were not serving the maintenance and health of my voice and exploring new ways to breathe and support my singing with my full body and power that have helped me to improve my tone, timbre, and range. Zoe has helped me to slow down and take stock of my entire instrument which has helped me sing a lot more freely and with ease. I have worked with numerous voice teachers over the years and no one has been able to unlock my voice in the way that Zoe has. Any student who is able to cross her path and pick up tools from her should consider themselves incredibly lucky as I will thank her endlessly for the numerous tools she has given me and my voice.
-Cory G., Wesleyan University Voice Student, Bass, Musical Theatre

Well-versed in the physical functions and demands of the voice and maintaining its health, Zoe cares strongly about confuting vocal myths and ensuring her students learn proper, healthy technique. Along with long-term goals and practices to achieve them, Zoe has taught me exercises that became instant game-changers in how I sing across multiple styles from pop to musical theater.

-Angelina R., Wesleyan University Voice Student, Soprano, Musical Theatre

At the start of my working with Zoe, I was struggling with multiple vocal health issues. I was recovering from nodules and my overall technique was lacking. Since working with her, my technique and vocal health have increased drastically, and I am able to accomplish so much more in my musical theater journey. -Shane Dwy, age 16, Tenor, Musical Theatre
